Kids’ shower curtains: Fun, colorful, and so individual

More and more these days, children are having more of a say in the design of their bedrooms and bathrooms; to do so helps boost their confidence and sense of ownership.  That’s why Kids’ Shower Curtains are so popular on today’s home decorating market.

What exactly separates kids’ shower curtains from others of their kind?  In a word, youthful charm.  Many kids’ shower curtains come emblazoned with the images of popular children’s characters; be they mighty, magical cartoon super heroes (such as Superman, Spider-Man, Thor, etc.) that boys enjoy, or colorful, strong, glamorous heroines that girls admire, like Barbie and the Disney Princesses.  Smaller children might prefer shower curtains that depict toddler favorites like Dora and Barney.  Nautical characters like SpongeBob Square pants and The Little Mermaid lend themselves particularly well to bathroom/shower curtain motifs.

In fact, some kids choose to build their entire bathroom design scheme around a single favorite character.  A little girl, for example, might have Barbie shampoo and bath gel, Barbie wallpaper and soap and toothbrush holders, and even decorative bathmats devoted to the popular fashion doll—along with a primo Barbie shower curtain to complete the design scheme.

Other kids might prefer colorful kids’ shower curtains that depict popular symbols of youth and childhood, including puppies, kittens and fish, sunshine and rainbows, candies and ice cream sodas, Ferris wheels and carousels, flowers and wildlife, fairies and unicorns, etc.  If a child has a favorite animal or mythical legend, he/she may be able to find a shower curtain that boasts images of that favorite.

Still other kids may just prefer decorative kids’ shower curtains that come emblazoned with a vivid, kid-friendly color, including candy apple red, cotton candy pink, silver and gold, etc.  And as they enter adolescence, they may prefer more dramatic, trendy colors like black, camouflage and deep royal red.

Other than their unique colors and individualized style, kids’ shower curtains do not differ a great deal from others of their kind.  They are culled from the same fabric—generally either plastic or vinyl, sometimes cotton or other fabric—and are cut to fit and cover standard bath and shower stalls.  The exception to this rule, of course, is if the shower curtain is used as an accessory in a custom-designed, kid-friendly bathroom; one with specially sized furniture and components.

Kids’ shower curtains are as unique and special as the kids who claim them.  Let your child pick out their own shower curtains, transforming their bed and bathroom suite into their own little world; a world of wonder.
